'Frustration' Type Specimen

For this brief I set myself the task of creating a typeface and accompanying specimen inspired by an emotion, ‘frustration’. This word was chosen as, in the midst of the pandemic, it was an emotion I felt quite often. The volatility of frustration also provided an opportunity to be very expressive with the letterforms. I decided to create the letterforms through the act of frustration itself. I printed off each letter and ripped them up in frustration and attempting to piece the letter back together became a frustrating task in itself. The final result of the letters looks agitated and chaotic, a clear disruption of normality.
